Ammo Performance

Yes. EcoBullet rounds are precision-loaded to match conventional velocity and pressure specifications. Shooters consistently report equivalent groupings at 25–50 yards versus name-brand conventional loads. Our 9mm 115gr TMJ was independently tested by GBGuns across multiple platforms and confirmed to perform on par with standard brass-FMJ loads. Lead-free construction does not compromise terminal ballistics for training applications.

No more than standard FMJ ammunition. Our TMJ (Total Metal Jacket) construction fully encases the bullet in a copper jacket, which is the same material contacting your bore in conventional FMJ rounds. The lead-free primer formulation does not introduce any harder or more abrasive compounds to the bore. Barrel wear is determined primarily by your cleaning habits and volume of rounds — not by the primer composition.

Yes — in fact, our ammo was specifically designed for indoor range use. Standard FMJ ammunition exposes the lead base of the bullet, which vaporizes on firing and contributes to airborne lead contamination in enclosed ranges. Our TMJ construction fully encases the base, significantly reducing lead vapor at the point of discharge. Combined with lead-free primers, EcoBullet is one of the cleanest training rounds you can shoot indoors. Always verify compatibility with your specific range's policies.

Bullet Technology

TMJ stands for Total Metal Jacket. Unlike FMJ (Full Metal Jacket), which leaves the base of the bullet exposed, TMJ bullets are completely encased in a copper jacket — including the base. This matters because the exposed lead base in FMJ bullets vaporizes when the powder ignites, releasing lead particles into the air. TMJ eliminates this source of lead exposure, making it significantly safer for shooters, range officers, and anyone sharing an indoor space with active firing lanes.

FMJ (Full Metal Jacket): The bullet core is jacketed on the sides and tip, but the base remains open/exposed lead. When fired, hot gases hit the exposed lead base and vaporize a small amount of lead into the air.

TMJ (Total Metal Jacket): The entire bullet — including the base — is encased in copper. No exposed lead anywhere. This completely prevents lead base vaporization at the point of discharge. Both types perform similarly for training purposes, but TMJ is significantly cleaner and safer, especially at indoor ranges.

Yes. We use recycled brass cases that are fully reloadable. The cases are inspected and processed to SAAMI specifications, so they respond to reloading dies, cleaning, and primer swapping just like new brass. Reloaders should note that our brass uses standard small pistol primers (for 9mm) and standard small rifle primers (for .223 Rem).

Shipping & Legal

We ship directly to most US states. The following states restrict or prohibit direct-to-consumer (DTC) ammunition shipping and require transfer through a licensed FFL dealer: California, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Illinois, and Hawaii. If you're in one of these states, use our FFL Finder to locate a dealer near you. We also offer a notification system — sign up to be alerted when DTC shipping expands to your state.

In most states, no — you can buy ammunition online and have it shipped directly to your home without involving an FFL (Federal Firearms Licensee). However, a handful of states (CA, MA, NY, NJ, CT, IL, HI) require that ammunition be transferred through a local FFL dealer. This is a state-level regulation, not a federal requirement. Use our FFL Finder to locate a participating dealer in restricted states.

DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) means we ship ammunition straight to your door, without requiring you to pick it up at a gun store or transfer through an FFL dealer. Most states allow DTC ammo purchases. In states where DTC is restricted (CA, NY, MA, NJ, CT, IL, HI), orders must be routed through a licensed FFL dealer, who handles the transfer to the end buyer.

Sustainability & Brand

EcoBullet offsets the carbon footprint of our manufacturing and logistics operations through verified carbon offset credits. This covers the energy used in brass processing, shipping emissions, and facility operations. "CO2-neutral" means the net carbon impact of producing and delivering our ammo is zero — any emissions generated are fully offset. Our use of recycled brass also reduces the energy needed versus smelting virgin copper and zinc.

EcoBullet was founded by a US military veteran based in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The company is majority-owned and operated by the founding veteran, qualifying us as a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB). Supporting EcoBullet means supporting veteran entrepreneurship and a business built on the values of precision, accountability, and service — both to customers and to the environment.

CPR (Cost Per Round) is a standard metric in the ammunition industry used to compare value across different box sizes and products. It's calculated by dividing the box price by the round count. For example, a box of 50 rounds at $19.99 = $0.40/round CPR. Comparing CPR is the most honest way to evaluate ammunition value — rather than comparing box prices, which can vary by round count (20, 50, or 200-round boxes).
